Willamina dominates girls’ rivalry

Other than a few minutes in the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs dominated the host Lady Spartans on Monday night in Sheridan.
Willamina doubled Sheridan’s score and won the West Valley rivalry match-up 56-28.

Donkeys take court for Grad Night fundraiser
A donkey basketball tournament Feb. 4 will raise funds for Sheridan High School’s graduation night.
It will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 4 in the old gym of Faulconer Chapman School. The four teams will be from the faculties of the high school and Faulconer-Chapman School, high school seniors and community members.

Taking care of business

The Willamina High School wrestlers traveled to Pleasant Hill last week to wrestle in a four-way league dual and won two duals and pinned Toledo’s only wrestler.
The Bulldogs squeeked out a close dual with Waldport, winning 32-27 and won the four-match dual with Pleasant Hill. Josh Perry pinned Toledo’s lone grappler Harley Savage in the second round of an exhibition match.

Dawgs clobber Colton

The Bulldogs secured a season sweep over Colton’s Vikings on Jan. 24 with a 31-point victory in which four scored in double digits.
Willamina’s Brady Bruckner led the way with 26, but Colton’s Ethan Stansfield led all scorers with 30.

Despite numbers, SHS wrestlers doing well

Sheridan wrestlers again performed well despite being few in number last week.
The Spartans were host of a district meet Thursday and placed fifth in a meet of mostly 5A schools in Albany on Saturday.

Lady Sparts beat Dayton 32-27

Spartans lose on the road and at home

Sheridan’s boys struggled last week, losing to Gervais 63-30 there Jan.24 and to Horizon Christian 67-39 at home Friday.
Recognizing that Horizon was a contender and Gervais an improved team, Spartan coach James Denton noted that several players were not feeling well in Gervais and said his players made a strong effort against the visitors from Tualatin.

Lady Bulldogs crush Colton, sink Pirates

After anihilating Colton there on Jan. 24, the Lady Bulldogs sunk the Dayton Pirates 58-46 on Friday at home.
WHS sophomore Whitney Anderson led her team again on Friday with a season high 22 points—she scored 23 once as a freshman.
