Jeep plunges into creek
Two injured in Highway 22 crash

Two people were injured on Jan. 27 when the vehicle they were in left Highway 22 and traveled off the road, down an embankment and landed in a creek a mile north of Valley Junction.
The Oregon State Police gave the following account of the incident: Gertrude Dickey, 57, of Willamina was eastbound on Highway 22 in a 2004 Jeep Liberty when, for an unknown reason, it went off the road and traveled approximately 30 feet down an embankment. The vehicle struck a tree and landed on its wheels in about three feet of water in Casper Creek.

Richard Street site has problems, says staff

At some time in the future, the City of Sheridan will need to build a water treatment plant to utilize the water collecting in the Stoney Mountain Reservoir. In the past the city selected Richard Street as the site for that facility, but with rising construction costs and problems with accessibility, city staff is asking if that is really the best place to build it.
The Water Source/Supply Facility Plan completed in November of 2003, recommended an 8.62 acre site along the water line that lies on Hampton Resources Property. But as Public Works Director Kie Cottam looked closer at the cost and the logistics, he became more and more concerned.

GR utility disinfecting its water
A week after tests revealed bacteria in the water from the Grand Ronde Community Water Association, residents must still boil their water.
A recording at the office states that all water for human consumption must be boiled for a minute.

SDCs: City vs. Schools
Willamina still negotiating development charges with school district

Following a fourth round in an ongoing debate as to whether the Willamina School District should pay the City of Willamina the $3,000 it was billed for System Development Charge for streets, the topic remains open for discussion.
“My request is to have this bill removed,” Superintendent Gus Forster told the council last month.

City and planning commission agree to compromise on proposed code changes

The Willamina City Council had two things on the agenda for the Jan. 26 meeting and those topics—the design review process required for Main Street Brew and proposed amendments to the municipal code governing the planning commission—led to lengthy discussion, talk of change and a consensus to compromise in order to clear the air and move forward.
The ambiguousness of the city code led two lawyers to come to two different conclusions as to whether the coffee shop located in Crossroads Worship Center needed to go through the planning process. City attorney
