Polk County Search and Rescue is looking for a few good men and women to join its team and participate in the annual training acade

      Most training will be conducted on Saturdays, with some weekday evening sessions. Members must meet the following qualifications: • Must be 16 or older. • Submit to and successfully pass a thorough background investigation. • Must be or become Oregon State Sheriff’s Association and Oregon Emergency Management Search and Rescue certified by attending and successfully completing the training academy.

Holmquist wins Grammy for ‘Credo’
      Barbara and Ken Knutson had a very special reason to watch the Grammy show last Wednesday night. Their daughter, Solvieg Holmquist, is a member of Eugene’s Oregon Bach Festival Chorus and Orchestra which won a Grammy along with conductor Helmuth Rilling. The winning CD, "Credo" was compiled in 1998 in honor of Rilling’s 65th birthday. It was released in October 1999.
