Sheridan Discount moves to former Copeland building

It won’t be long until West Valley residents can shop once again at the big orange building where Copeland Lumber’s store was open for many years.
Sheridan Discount Building Supply will soon be moving from its Mill Street location to the store on South Bridge Street, separating its retail operation from the wholesale businesses, Myers Woodline, Inc. and Pacific Fir Lumber Co.
"We think it’s going to be a good location," said Brad Myers, one of the owners. "We’ll be able to display things. Our biggest problem has been our inability to show people what we have for sale. It’ll be easier to shop."
The new building will accommodate the growing retail business and give the company room to expand.
"We’re adding more items... we’re expanding the product line," Myers said. "We’ll have a lot more room to carry essentials. I think that we’re looking at about doubling in size."
Products that Sheridan Discount Building Supply already carries will continue to be available. Doors, lumber, No. 2 roofing, on-grade and off-grade plywood, moldings, fencing and odds and ends such as tools, bolts and nuts are the "staples" of the business, along with "a smattering of all different kinds of things," Myers said.
A new product now available is the whole line of Pittsburgh Paints, a brand of quality paint with a competitive price. There used to be a Pittsburgh Paint store in Sheridan that was open for many years, Myers said. "They’re happy to move back into the area and have us distribute for them."
Sheridan Discount Building Supply will carry more "necessities" while keeping prices down, Myers explained.
"We’re learning, as retailers. We’re listening to what people are saying," he said. "Community support is getting better and better."
The move will probably take place around the first of August, Myers said. A grand opening is planned for the end of August.
